What is the Internet of things?

It is extending the power of the internet beyond computers and smartphones. To include an integrated set of other processes and things, connecting them together without any direct human intervention. It aims to facilitate life in various aspects.

Connected machines and things provides the ability for a fourth industrial revolution to occur.

What is the Artificial intelligence? (AI)

Artificial intelligence is a relatively big section from computer science, It is interested in building intelligent machines that is able to do tasks which need human intelligence, So it's an attempt to repeat or simulate human intelligence in machines. It is a multidisciplinary science with multiple approaches

Four different approaches have historically defined the field of artificial intelligence and they are:

- Thinking in a human way

- Think rationally

- Act in a human way

- Act rationally

The relationship between the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence

Users, sensors, and networks create massive amounts of data through which applications can be developed and knowledge gained using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, thus the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence can facilitate the possibility of developing valuable services for citizens, companies and public agencies in multiple fields. Such as energy, transportation, healthcare, education, and public safety

Although both technologies are individually powerful. Except that artificial intelligence as a source of intelligence. and the Internet of Things is the only technology that makes communications between devices possible. Their affinity becomes a catalyst for smart connections that help make businesses and industries efficient.

Some of the different uses of integrating artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things:

1- Wearable Health Devices:

The use of health wearable devices for continuous monitoring and tracking of user habits and preferences has led to a large number of influential uses in the healthcare industry. On the one hand, the Internet of Things helps to create a link between multiple device types. Artificial intelligence, on the other hand, turns the collected data into insights that can play an important role in making users healthier

2- Surveillance of drones:

These aircraft can monitor large areas helping to monitor real-time traffic and make adjustments to traffic flow. Artificial intelligence can also be incorporated here to analyze data and take action to reduce traffic congestion by adjusting speed limits and timing of traffic lights. And all of this without human intervention. It can also be used to deliver products to consumers.

3- Fleet Management:

We can use a combination of artificial intelligence and the internet of things for fleet management and vehicle movement monitoring, cut fuel costs and track vehicle maintenance. By combining the Global Positioning System (GPS) with other sensors and artificial intelligence systems, progress can be made in autonomous vehicles that use sonar, radars, cameras, and a GPS system to collect data about driving conditions and then use artificial intelligence to make decisions based on IoT collected data.

4- Smart Homes:

It is one of the best examples of combining artificial intelligence and the internet of things. By making use of electronic devices, lighting and other equipment that respond to orders.

As for its use in some businesses, it helps

• Make smart business decisions with the help of multi-device   customer data

• Improve the efficiency of supply chains

• Strengthening security measures

• Eliminate sudden system shutdowns

The convergence of Artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things is expected to promise for multiple uses across industry, business and services across a range of industrial sectors, catering, and healthcare on demand. It will not stop there and will be ready for innovation and newer uses, making it efficient and resistant to competition over time.
